ABSTRACT

Learning with personal computers is often acknowledged and studied in conjunction with guided mathematical inquiry learning. Currently, with the use of mobile phones for mobile learning, personal technology is finally acquiring the characteristics of a personal communication tool that can also function as a serviceable computer. I rely on long-term R&D in the uses of technology in learning mathematics by exploration, as well as on theories and studies of mobile and collaborative learning and of inquiry in other fields in order to enhance the understanding of mobile mathematics learning through mathematical inquiry with the aid of cellular phones. In particular, I will outline design goals and principles that guided us in the development and implementation of the Math4Mobile project.
